YMCA OF GERMANTOWN AFTER SCHOOL PROGRAM
In our efforts of meeting the many challenges brought by the unfortunate and temporary closing of our facilities, we could not overlook the hardships of the many families in our communities who were dependent on the YMCA of Germantown to meet the After School needs of their children.When we reached out, Canaan Baptist Church swiftly answered our call! We are honored to be partnered with Canaan Baptist Church and their highly rated “Sankofa” after school program.
ABOUT SANKOFA
Vision: The SANKOFA Academic Enrichment After School Program of Canaan Baptist Church is committed to the vision of providing a nurturing support system for children ages 5 through 12 that will enhance the development of the whole child. The curriculum goals of SANKOFA are designed to foster cultural pride and motivation for academic success. The physical activities offered will teach the importance of maintaining a healthy lifestyle. Our Christ-centered approaches will enhance the children's spiritual development and social skills.
Mission:The SANKOFA Academic Enrichment Program encourages children to become productive citizens who will help build stronger, caring communities of the 21st century. The families, schools and other stakeholders within the community will benefit from the provision of the holistic curriculum offered to our children.

YOUTH BASKETBALL LEAGUE
Is being held at Waterview Recreation Center
5826 McMahon Street (Right off Chelten near Haines St.) Philadelphia, PA 19144
Starting Saturday, November 22nd until February 6, 2009
(Program will be closed for the holiday on 11-29-08, 12-27-08 & 1-3-09)
For Youth Division Ages 6-8 and 9-11
Fee covers: League fee & T-Shirt for each youth
LEAGUE 1 FOR YOUTH 6-8
This league is structured with your child’s age and height in mind. The basketball is
smaller than regulation balls and the hoops are 8 feet high instead of 10 feet
Time: 9:00am-10:30am
LEAGUE 2 FOR YOUTH 9-11
The basketball hoops are the regulation height of 10 feet high.
Each child will receive a team league shirt and a trophy at the end of the program.
Parents will be required to
purchase their child’s trophy.
Time: 10:30am-12:30pm

Payment: We will only accept Checks or Money Orders for payment
